April 28th U is for....Umbrella

I cheated and got help with this self portrait picture. I don't have a wireless remote yet so asked my daughter if she could take the picture for me...she was so excited to try out my camera and I have a feeling she's going to be asking for a DSLR in the near future, that's my girl!

April 27th T is for.....Tree

One of the things I love about my backyard is this big, beautiful apple tree! I look forward to the Spring every year when it puts on a lovely show of blossoms for us. This year there are tons of buds and I can't wait to see them open!

April 26th S is for...Stepping Stone

We got a new patio installed last Fall and there was a misunderstanding between the foreman of the job and the other workers.....anyways, my huge flower garden in the backyard that wasn't supposed to be touched got dug up while I was at swimming lessons with the kids. We were all so upset...there were lots of sentimental plants in there including a tree that was given to my son at his baptism, a little flower garden that my daughter built herself as well as garden ornaments. Everything was gone! My husband told them off big time and they searched through the rubble they had carted off and found this stepping stone of my daughter's hand from when she was 3 years old (it's a little damaged at the top but looks pretty good). I had other ones of the kids feet as babies that are gone forever but am happy that I at least still have this one.

April 25th R is for....Run!

We went over to my parents house to celebrate my dad's bday today. I kicked the kids off the tv for a bit and told them to go run around outside....I love the looks on their faces when they're running

April 24th Q is for....Quit Fighting!!

All I wanted was a nice picture but my two were fighting (my daughter looks innocent here but she's actually elbowing her brother and he's saying stop it)...the poor baby was saying get me away from these two!

April 23rd P is for...Pretty Pink Petals

April 22nd O is for...O Canada!

I went on a field trip with my daughter's class to see the parliament buildings....too bad it was rainy. My daughter and I didn't get to see much of the inside because she passed out so we spent most of our time with security guards and a nurse. Not sure what was wrong with her! I'll take her back in the summer so she can see the rest of the tour

April 21st N is for....Naughty or nice?

My daughter was standing behind me doing who knows what....I was just happy that she was making her brother laugh!

April 20th M is for...Madison

my adorable God Daughter!

April 19th L is for...Lick

Buddy thinks my husband is the "alpha dog" and loves to constantly lick him. It's really gross....sometimes he gets his teeth into and and it looks like he's trying to clean out his nose for him

April 18th K is for....Kickin' Birthday Cake

This dragon cake was so cute and easy to make. The only problem I had was the wings...I looked in many many stores for fruit roll-ups but couldn't find any. I ended up having to buy 2 kids meals at subway and getting the rollups that come with the meal...I guess they're only selling fruit by the foot in stores now. Anyways, it all turned out well in the end and my son loved his cake !

April 17th J is for....Joy

It was my son's birthday today. I love watching him open presents, he has the funniest facial expressions!

April 16th I is for....Irresistible!

These are spudnuts (donuts made with some potatoes in them) deepfrying. It was my favorite thing to make with my grandmother so when she passed away 1 1/2 years ago, the kids and I decided to keep the tradition alive and make them around her birthday every year. This was our second time doing it and we had a blast. My daughter is in charge of icing them and my son puts sprinkles on them

so tasty....i've tried to get them out of my sight by putting them in the freezer but they taste good frozen too! :)

April 15th H is for....Hold on tight!

This is Buddy's best friend Grady, they love to play together in the mornings. Grady loves to play tug of war so Buddy tolerates it for awhile (you can see that he's not into it as much as Grady :)) then Grady will play chase for awhile which is what Buddy loves.

April 15th G is for....Growing

My son's birthday is in a few days so we went down to the wall in the basement to see how much he's grown since last year. You can see that my daughter was much taller than him at that age (the black writing above his head).

April 13th F is for....fingers

my daughter is obsessed with nail polish at the moment! Anyone know how to get blue nail polish off of a shirt?

April 12th E is for....Elephant

my kids are loving this alphabet project and my son insisted that I take a picture of his Elephant today

April 11th D is for....Delicious!

this is not the greatest picture but I wanted to remember this awesome meal that I had....I liked it so much that I went to the restaurant twice. This is a chicken burger with brie cheese, an apple ring and cinnamon chutney (you could get a beef patty instead which you can see that my friend has in the background).....so tasty, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The spinach salad was really good too! If anyone is in Calgary, i would highly suggest going to the Irish pub called James Joyce on Stephen avenue

April 10th C is for...Calgary tower

This is the view from my hotel room window. The calgary tower is on the right....I think it looks like a mini version of the CN Tower in Toronto.

April 9th B is for....Bling

this is part of the centerpiece that was on my table at an awards gala

April 8th

I"m starting an alphabet project so for the next little while i'll be posting a picture that has to do with a different letter each day

A is for....Anatomically Correct

there were gigantic statues of people in a park right near our hotel.

I just did a search and here's some info about them:
The statues are called "The Family of Man". They were built by Mario Armengol for Britain's Pavilion at Expo 67. The statues are 21 feet tall. They were then purchased by Maxwell Cummings and Sons, who then donated them to the Calgary Board of eduction
